A favorite graphic tee should feel easy, not fragile. A few simple habits can help protect the print, color, and shape without turning laundry day into a science project.
Start with the care label
The garment care label is the source of truth because fabric blends and print methods vary. When its instructions differ from general advice, follow the label.
Turn the tee inside out
Washing inside out reduces direct rubbing against the printed surface. Zip zippers, close hooks, and keep rough garments in a separate load when possible.
Use a cooler, gentler cycle
Cool water and a gentle cycle are a sensible default for many printed cotton tees. Use a normal amount of mild detergent and skip harsh bleach unless the care label specifically allows it.
Dry with less heat
High heat is hard on both fabric and ink. Air-dry when practical, or use the lowest dryer setting allowed by the care label. Reshape the shirt while damp instead of stretching it after it dries.
Store it without stressing the print
Fold tees loosely and avoid placing a hard crease through a large graphic. If you hang them, use a broad hanger so the shoulders keep their shape.
The goal is not to make a tee look untouched forever. Good graphic shirts gain character with wear. Care simply keeps that aging process looking intentional.
